I've been using a Sonicare toothbrush for the past 6 years, and have seen noticeable results (confirmed by my dentist). This Laifen Wave feels like the evolution, with some features added that make it even better. The unboxing experience is really something, especially considering the packaging is nearly all recyclable paper. The handle is more compact but heavier than my Sonicare (a basic 3-mode unit), and the brush-heads are slimmer with smaller bristles. It was mostly charged on arrival, but I still connected the charging cable and let it top off, which took some time (this is fine, slower charging extends battery lifespan). I'm not a huge fan of yet another proprietary cable, but replacements, adapters, and even bases are available. The magnetic connection is strong and easy to use. The QR code in the manual led to a site that Chrome didn't trust, but searching "Laifen" in the Google Play Store found their app with ease, and I had no trouble connecting to the toothbrush and customizing the 3 modes. It comes preset with an easy, medium, and full-on mode, but I really like being able to change them all for different uses or people. There's a calibration step to set the brush oscillation - not sure how important it is, but it's fast and easy. In use, the Laifen is quieter than the Sonicare, and seems a lot less likely to disturb someone sleeping a room away. The smaller brushhead was easy to maneuver, especially around my wisdom teeth, and the oscillation was really easy to get used to. I did find the button a little sensitive to activate, especially trying to double-tap to switch modes, but I'm sure I'll get used to it. There's a nice bit of haptic feedback when it detects a touch that really helps. I did try the full-on mode, with all 3 sliders maxed out, and it's a lot. Probably more than I need, to be honest, but still comfortable and seemingly gentle on my gums. Finally, the polished stainless body is beautiful, but it does show fingerprints and adds some weight. This is a review for the Laifen SS Toothbrush I travel frequently for work and, unfortunately, often forget my toothbrush in hotel rooms. So over the years, I’ve tested quite a few models and brands. So far, the Laifen SS stands out as one of the best I’ve used. It comes with a magnetic charging cable, a USB to USB-C adapter, and three brush heads. The magnetic charger is unique, though I do wish it used a standard USB-C port like some other models for simplicity when packing. The app is intuitive and easy to use. You can create and save up to three customized presets, though I tend to stick with just one. It also shows battery levels and has an airplane mode for travel, but honestly, the toothbrush works perfectly well without ever opening the app. The toothbrush itself is made of high-quality materials, the shinny stainless steel body not only gives it a premium feel but also makes it easier to clean. The brush heads use high-speed oscillations (adjustable via the app) to clean your teeth, which may feel different if you're coming from a traditional electric toothbrush. I have sensitive gums, but the gentler settings work well for me. Battery lasts a lot and can be fully charged in 3h or so. It's also 100% waterproof, I’ve accidentally dropped it into a bathtub full of water and had zero issues afterward. The only real drawback for me is the proprietary magnetic charging cable. While it works well, it means I have to carry an extra cable just for this device when I travel, and I prefer to travel as light as possible. Comparison with the Laifen SE: I also own the Laifen SE, and after using both, I can confidently say the SS is a clear step up. The SS is more powerful (66,000 vs. 26,000 vibrations/min), and it’s more compact and easier to clean. Both models have the same software features, but the SS has a more stable app connection (my SE sometimes struggles with Bluetooth, maybe I got a lemon). This was very hard to review and decide whether 5 stars or 4 stars. Overall quality of the product and its functionality is definitely 5 star. Even the packaging is 5 star. This particular model was stainless which is very high quality, and looks great. It does make the product a little heavier, and given its compact design, it takes a little getting used to. However, the compact size is also a positive feature. The ability to adjust the speed and intensity is a big positive - using the phone app. There are separate modes that can be dialed in and then used when needed, such as with different heads. I do wish that that lowest setting was a little less intense, but that may have as much to do with the heads than it does with the motor head. It comes with three brushes for cleaning, whitening and gum care. Each is stiffer than you might find with other brushes that offer a soft and medium firmness. These seem to border between medium and hard. Also there is not information included with the product describing how to get additional brushes and if they have any other options. Even on Amazon or the Laifen website you can only order the brushes included. No other options for stiffness. The stainless model is very sleek, and that puts the on'off button flush with the handle. So if you happen to twist the handle in your hand while brushing and you want to turn it off before the time ends, it can be a little difficult finding the right spot to turn it off. The app is simple and easy to use. It provides a lot of flexibility in the settings. You can even change the overall time, which is nice. I do like that it is in 30 second intervals, where others might be 20. 30 seems more reasonable given the quadrants in the mouth. Overall this is a beautiful and funcrtional toothbrush, with a few features that may make it a little challenging or uncomfortable for some users. But it you want a great looking toothbrush with lots of flexibility in settings, this is a good product and good value. Read more
