First thing to realize is that this acts as an earphone too. A good set of comfortable earphones of this quality would run you about the price of this item. That means that you pretty much get the translation feature free. Tested this with people I know that speak Spanish and it was near flawless. In a normal conversation there may be one or two sentences you ask them to repeat but otherwise spot on. This also works as a learning tool as you hear yourself speaking then see the translation on your phone and hear it as well. So talking to yourself doesn't make you crazy, it makes you studious. I have also watched movies in foreign languages and these work if you turn the volume up high. There are several upgrades and one is for movies. I'm guessing it just makes the earphone sensitive to electronic voices but turning the volume up works just as well if you want to save a buck. You can also subscribe to operate without your cell phone, which I may consider if I am overseas and don't want to purchase a separate cell phone plan. I did try one other similar over the ear model and it was not as comfortable then suddenly stopped working and wanted you to purchase some package to operate even with cell phone so be careful to check before you buy. These were my grandma's Christmas Present from me, as she saw an ad for these from Temu. I was also very skeptical of these, thinking they were a scam product, especially since she learned about them via Temu Ads, so I naturally looked on Amazon and was about to say no to translation earbuds with all the bad or low/ non-existent reviews... then I came across these. The reviews were good, they weren't expensive as poo, and they could be used as regular earbuds, so I decided to give em a chance... They did not arrive til after Christmas, but Amazon told me that, so I had to find another wallet-friendly gift for granny until these bad boys came. Now they're here, and well.... they work surprisingly well. You do have to download an app specifically for the earbuds to use the translation feature, and you gotta purchase VIP to use the translation feature offline (which I did not get and will not be getting, we have unlimited data plans in this household), but I mean other than that, it's very free as long as you have internet. As for the translation aspect, they've got a Lotta options to choose from, including different dialects of Spanish, which I didn't know there was since I am not that knowledgeable. It translates well enough, but don't have a lot of people talking at once, otherwise it will jumble up. As for how they feel in your ears, they're alright, but I personally don't like headphones with that airpod build, however granny loves em, so that's just a me thing. Overall, she's content with em and very much looking forward to using the things to easedrop on the French and Spanish speakers in our workplace (which makes up a majority of our co-workers), since she for some reason thinks they're talking about her.
