This is a truly beautiful monitor. The color accuracy is on point, and the quality of the OLED display is truly beautiful. Blacks are incredible with no noticable light bleed like you would see from LED backlit displays. Refresh rates are amazing if supported by your graphics card and FreeSync works as expected. Things get weird with regards to the smart features in the display. You're prompted to set it up as you would a Smart TV, which nets you some capabilities like streaming. Disney Plus and Plex in this worked well, although all of the services will look a bit odd with padding/black bars as they (and most media) don't support the native aspect ratio of the display. The inclusion of HDMI ARC was not expected but certainly made it easy to hook up a sound bar for an all-in-one audio output that supports both the built-in streaming services and PC. Overall, this is a good device with some interface issues. My biggest complaint lies with choosing your PC input from the remote... It's unnecessarily obtuse with the apps up front. This monitor is extremely awesome. And it’s huge! I got this installed on a mini pc for now which can’t even drive the full resolution (just until I can clear some desk space to move this to my gaming PC). However, the picture is still incredible. Since it’s OLED, the blacks are truly black – you can’t see any light bleed through. The colors are vibrant, and the screen gets bright enough (at max) to keep me happy. There are a few drawbacks though. First, the cost. Yes, the monitor is amazing, but it’s also double the cost of other 4k wide aspect gaming monitors. This is partly because of the second drawback (or maybe advantage), which is that this monitor can do a lot! It can also be a TV, or run it’s own apps (Netflix, Hulu, etc.), which just adds to the complexity. It is also time consuming to set up. It requires you to activate with a Samsung Smart Hub account. I have a lot of other Samsung appliances and TVs, so I already had a Smart Hub account, but it still is a bit of a pain to get this monitor up and running with the account. I also had a set up problem in which I tried to plug my wireless (via dongle) keyboard and mouse into the monitor and it wouldn’t recognize it – it just kept searching for a Bluetooth keyboard, so I ended up having to do the Smart Hub set up through my phone instead. There is a weird USB hub built into the monitor. I say weird because it’s really just USB ports for the monitor itself to use (like to stream media from a thumb drive), but you can configure it to be a standard USB hub that the PC can use as well – but it’s not set up that way out of the box. There is a lot of tedious configuration that needs to be done to really set this up as a gaming monitor, and I haven’t gone through all of it yet (it’s not on my gaming PC yet), but it’s possible. Once done though, this monitor is just amazing! Breathtakingly beautiful. However, I’m only going to give it 4 stars, because of the high cost and painful setup procedures. If Samsung just had a “use as monitor only” option in the config menu that did all this automatically, I’d give it 5 stars. Read more

I'm really torn about giving this 4 stars, but I want to be honest. The picture on this thing is 5 stars easy, I'd give 10 if I could. It looks great. I've been playing God of War Ragnarök on my PC and the HDR and contrast are mind blowing. The game is immersive due to the ultrawide screen and the colors and images just pop. The monitor itself is also great. I came from a powerful Asus ultrawide that was thick and about 40 pounds. This is so thin, and light compared to my old monitor it was just unbelievable. Samsung really packed in a lot of image quality into this thing. The problem I have with this monitor is all of the "extras" that Samsung packed into it. It is basically a smart TV without a tuner built in. That's great if you need a TV at your desk. But for someone who just wants to use it as a monitor and nothing else, all of those functions and menus just get in the way. Switching inputs should be fast and simple, and yet I basically have to boot into the home menu to do it. What's absolutely infuriating and justifying taking a star off of this review is that they did include a remote, but there is no source button on it. Like, what? You put a Netflix button on there, but not an input switcher? It's clear they want you to log in with your Samsung account and use their apps. But why on earth would I use the YouTube app when I CAN JUST WATCH YOUTUBE ON MY COMPUTER?!? Every app is redundant if you have it plugged into a PC. I guess maybe this is for a college kit that just plugs in a PS5 to it? But even then, the PS5 has all of these apps. You can turn some of the annoying things off, but not everything (I haven't been able to simplify input switching). Now, there are some cool features because it is "smart". You can split the screen to show your computer and the smart interface, two computers, or, if you have a Samsung phone, you can mirror your phone in the corner. If you take advantage of any of that, this is well worth it. But again, if you just want a monitor, it can be cumbersome. Again, the picture is amazing. It's worth the hassle. But I hope an update will make the input switching a one-action affair (even better if they remap the remote). EDIT: Ok, I looked at the remote again and saw a microphone button. I used it, set up Bixby (ugh), and it turns out I could switch inputs by asking Bixby to do it. Still a star off, because I shouldn't have to yell at my remote like a madman to change inputs when button press should do, but it is a "one-action" way to do it. Read more

The monitor itself is good quality and similar to other OLED monitors. Samsung wants this to double as a TV monitor and as such the setup is much more involved than a typical monitor. Also, the price on Amazon was dropped the day after my purchase, rather than honor the new price Amazon wants me to return and re-purchase the same monitor. Read more

Let me start by saying I am a Samsung fanboy with more samsung products in my house than I care to admit. I already have one of the original 49 inch odessey monitors but wanted to look at QD Oled as a new option for gaming. After just two days of trying to get this panel to be a good PC monitor, I have decided to return it and go with a competitor who is also using this QD OLED panel but just not trying to be a TV at the same time. PROS - Quality design. Nice to see them providing what I believe to be a very nice design that is not your typical gaudy gaming design by other manufacturers. This looks good on a gaming desk or a work desk. Very thin, small footprint stand - WHEN IT WORKED, the screen looked incredible. HDR in gaming is incredible, video content that is HDR looks STUNNING. - If you have a Samsung TV now you will be very familiar with the menu structure and settings as they are pretty much the same. CONS - Screen would often turn on with pixelation as shown in one of my images. The images with the black screen is also when the monitor is on but would not pick up a reception from my computer. - Screen kept kicking me out of PC mode and sending me back to the TV channel list where I spent more time watching the fireplace channel than working in my PC - In an effor to put TV features in your face, they drop the ball on doing either very well and it's frustrating - EVERY SINGLE TIME YOU GO INTO PC MODE, you must endure the panel displaying its ridiculus gamer bar, plus gamer bar 'how to' then volume menu and occasionally the system would shut down. WHO AT SAMSUNG THOUGHT THIS WAS A GOOD UX. - It is leaning too heavily into the TV side of the feature set, so much so that the panel will not pass through the mouse and keyboard functions through its USB ports when you reboot your PC and need to get into your bios. None of the settings available to me would allow to configure for USB passthrough. I am willing to acknowledge there might have been something I did not setup correctly, but Samsung is not making it easy for me to find if it does exist. NUETRAL - The panel often wants to run a 'recalibration' after you turn it on which takes 10 minutes or so - No burn in warranty. I can't call this a negative as I knew this before I purchased, but the more I looked into it, the compitition is using this same Samsung panel in their monitors and offering burn in as part of thier warranty and I find it odd that Samsung does not do the same. UPDATED - Be mindful of the return process and attempting so use the the QR code method. I found out many of the UPS locations are not equipped with the hardware to handle this so you must take items to a UPS store specifically. So rathe than a 15 minute trip to my local shop that supports UPS I had an hour trip to my closes UPS full store. - Refund process takes longer than expected as 8 days after confirmation they have recieved the item still nothing has processed. The few time I have returned an item I have not had this long of a processing time. Read more
