Software is a little "quirky", but the ZigBee functionality is great and integrates well in Home Assistant! I seem to always have issues on the Security page, where things like input fields are requiring values when the feature is disabled, enabling certain features appear to remain disabled when they're not, and setting web UI password breaks minor integration on Home Assistant. I've been into Home Assistant as a hobby for a while now. My family puts up with it. It's a whole rabbit hole and on the hole however I've managed to make it useful enough for them. Until recently... more and more zigbee devices; I added them greedily, too greedily. The zigbee network died, half the devices went online, and my "smart home" was suddenly very, very dumb. My wife gave an ultimatum: either I fix it or we were done. The kids treated me even more like a joke. Even the dog didn't want to be in the same room with me. Every other router had week long lead times. This was delivered overnight. Configured in router mode, my network came back from the dead. My wife, while never pleased with me, was no longer actively despising me. I have already ordered two more to increase the robustness of my network. I love this coordinator. I wish I'd found one of these before buying the USB version. This device is a real bonus. The concept is great. You can connect this as a traditional USB dongle, use WiFi, or connect it to a PoE switch. WiFi gives you the option to place this device anywhere in your home for the best possible coverage over your zigbee network. I opted for PoE with gave me flexibility in my own home setup. With PoE, you don't have to worry about providing external power. The connectivity is great. Now I can position my coordinator in a central location away from electrical interference that might clog the signal. If you don't have a PoE switch, you can still connect it to the wall for power and use WiFI. Or, you can connect it directly to your home assistant server via USB C. So many options. The user interface is great. It allows you to secure the device with your own account. It allows you to easily upgrade the firmware, reset, or adjust the settings. It also gives you the connection strings you need for your Home Assistant setup including ZHA and MQTT. The extra bonus for me was to have a coordinator that is separate from my home assistant server. It allows the flexibility to provide high availability on the server without worrying about the zigbee coordinator. Pros: - Placement - Coverage - Connection options - Ease of use Cons: - None to mention I really wish this had been my first pick. Then I wouldn't have had to worry about USB extension cables and such that I needed for my old dongle.
