I just got this case so keep in mind I haven’t had more than a day with it. This is the Magic Keyboard that Apple should have made. 1/3 the cost AND it includes a case for the iPad so when you don’t want to use the keyboard, your iPad isn’t naked! The keyboard is nice and clicky, easy to type on, and I like the backlight and the ability to change the color/brightness. The touchpad is small but responsive and easy to use, I love having a mouse cursor on my iPad! (I wish it was closer to a MacBook touchpad because it pushes down a bit further than I am used to but that is really nit-picky.) It remains to be seen how long this will last but the quality is nice. The manufacturer included a 24-month warranty so as long as they honor that, I can’t see any reason not to buy this case! PROS: - price is unbeatable at 1/3 the cost of Apple’s keyboard case with very similar features - keyboard is clicky and nice to type on, backlight is great and it changes colors and brightness levels - USB-C charging means I only need to carry one cable to charge either the case or iPad - feels like a good design, the hinge is sturdy and feels solid nice and the case material is slightly grippy, feels great in my hands with a soft touch - 24-month warranty seems really stellar (hopefully it lasts so I never have to use it!) - supports multiple positions you can use it in, landscape or portrait mode (and there are enough magnets to move the iPad further up on the case if you need a slightly different angle or more space to type) CONS: - since it’s a Bluetooth keyboard, it needs to be charged separately from the iPad, no pass-through charging like Apple’s Keyboard - the viewing angle doesn’t go back as far as I’d like and there is only really one angle you can use this case in, but it’s good for typing on a desk or coffee table from the couch - the whole case+keyboard adds quite a bit of weight to the iPad, this is expected so it’s not really a negative for me - (ADDED) the case makes the whole combination very top-heavy so it’s quite difficult to type while it’s sitting on your lap; it’s fine on a table or flat surface but any angle and it’s a bit unstable More pros than cons and for the price, a lot of the negatives are easy to overcome. If you want a keyboard case for your iPad Pro, you’re looking for something similar to the Magic Keyboard BUT you want to avoid the “Apple tax” — this is a great option on the market. A missing feature compared to Apple’s MK is the pass-through charging. But the trade off is having a solid case around the iPad so you can use it without the keyboard and not feel concerned about dropping and damaging the iPad. UPDATE: After using the keyboard case on my iPad Pro 13” for several days now, the viewing angle is actually bothering me more than I assumed it would. There is no flexibility and it doesn’t have any other angles you can use this in. When you remove it from the keyboard, the protective case around the iPad can only sit flat on a table or be held in your hands, making it impossible to use at any normal angle for drawing or casual reading. Unfortunately, this may become a dealbreaker for me as I like to use my iPad in multiple different positions, both on a desk and in my lap. Which this does not support. The first thing you notice when you get it is HOW FREAKING HEAVY this thing is. But I could pass on that, it protects the iPad very well compared to the Magic Keyboard, which is why I chose this one. BUT, it’s actually an BAD keyboard — it has backlight, which is pretty nice, but you can’t even set the backlight to normal white! The key travel is pretty long compared to Apple’s and the noise makes its feel clunky. But above all, sometimes it just doesn’t register key presses, although pretty rarely if you take the time to fully press the keys (super annoying though, but I guess you can get used to that). But above all, the trackpad is HORRIBLE: it’s quite laggy and doesn’t always register multi touch properly, or even move at all as you intended, and the click is very noisy (real press, not haptic), making each use of it inconvenient / incomfortable. It’s because it’s connecting over bluetooth I suppose, but the Magic trackpad as well and is perfectly responsive. Finally, I knew the keyboard was bluetooth and had to be turned on/off, but why on earth making it a 3 seconds press for either?! It should be instant press on/off. Well priced, great form factor and the keys don't feel cheap. Best of all, absolutely stellar customer service Keyboard: very nice feel, great range of back lights and no lag when typing. Personally did not miss the function row on the 11 inch, did not find it was too bothersome to hold funtion and another key. Price: great for its form factor and functionality Stand functionality: very sturdy, a bit weighty but helps with stability when open. Protection: weighty but it feels very protective. I would count this as a win especially as these devices are so pricey. Customer service: The best I've come across. Replied within 24 hours EVEN ON A WEEKEND. I did have some trouble with the trackpad, but we found out quickly that it was a faulty model. Best part is that they offered to send a replacement/refund without needing me to send the priduct back. On this alone I will continue to look at ESR products. Read more

I would say 4.5. The case around the iPad protects it well, but the keyboard part does break if it falls (freak incident made me drop mine, which happened AFTER what I mention later on in this review). It’s stable and the hinge feels nice imo, and is the iPad is easy to remove from the keyboard part. The Apple Pencil also holds well on it. The only issue I have is that I had to contact support for a replacement 2-3 weeks in because my keyboard suddenly just stopped working entirely. Though now I just received my replacement, and it works perfectly fine. The material it’s made of also does smudge/leave fingerprints easily, but not as much as a midnight MacBook Air if anyone understands that comparison. Read more

This review is for the ESR keyboard case for the 2024 M4 iPad Pro 13. So, let’s start by saying this case is Exactly what I wanted for my new iPad Pro. The M4 iPad is so new, its really hard to find a good aftermarket case, but ESR seems to have read my mind and made one… a really good one albeit. There are a few nitpicks from me, but overall, this is a 5 star case. Why do want this particular case? Because I want the iPad to have a case on at all times. When it is in the keyboard case and when it’s out. ESR has made a keyboard case just for that. The iPad is essentially in a slim black case at all times, so when I remove it from the keyboard case to game or use as an iPad again, I don’t need to worry about it or have another case on standby. ESR accomplished this by making the slim case with a metal backing, so the magnets from the hinged side lock onto the slim case, not the iPad, which makes the magnetic power extremely strong. Once you snap the iPad on, it doesn’t move nor slide around. You can open, close, adjust the hinge angle without fearing your iPad will move around. Oh the slim case will also accommodate the pencil and it even has a strap that will protect the pencil when the case is closed. Overall, the case is very sturdy, well designed and built. The touchpad is excellent and the keyboard has a firm feedback which I like. Oh, the keyboard battery, yes, it has its own battery, so you don’t have to drain your iPad to use it. Yes it needs to charged, but it is also an USB-C and the battery last a long time, for weeks of use. And No it does not have a battery gauge, which at first I thought it might be worrisome, but guess what, the native battery widget on the iPad shows the keyboard battery percentage!!! This is AWESOME, see attached screen shot! Now, let me nitpick a bit… wow is it heavy. I understand with all the metal, magnets and battery, it will be heavy. I think it’s heavier than my old clunker IBM Thinkpad! But it’s something I am ok with and can live with, for all of its features. Oh, due to the weight, the keyboard does not tip over when you are using it on your lap on the couch or in bed. The weight of the battery anchors down so the iPad is not heavier than the keyboard, which is an Issue with the Apple MK, its so light that it tips over easily. The keyboard, BTW I am writing this review with it as we speak. Why does this keyboard DOES NOT HAVE A DELETE KEY??? Instead there is a screen lock key! why? It’s very frustrating that I am so used to using the delete key and every time I hit it, the screen goes blank! I will have to bring up the onscreen keyboard to use the delete key! Ugh!!! This is probably my biggest gripe with this keyboard! My recommendation to ESR would be to put the delete key back and give us one more color on the keyboard lighting, white. It has every color but white. The closest to white is cyan, which is just a lighter shade of blue! Give us pure white please! Other than that, this is an awesome keyboard case at less than 1/3 of Apple MK price! Plus its 360 protection of the iPad and onboard battery feature, it is definitely a 5 star product! Read more

This is a fantastic case! It is easy to use and provides great all-around protection for the iPad. All of the corners of the iPad are well-covered and button access is fully enabled. The Bluetooth pairing is seamless and the trackpad works well. The placement of the iPad in either horizontal or vertical use is effective and easy with a magnetic attachment to the case. The stand is at a fixed angle but the angle works well. The only downsides of this case are: 1) its weight (slightly heavier and thicker than the Apple Magic Keyboard, but 1/3 the price — and the ESR case provides much better iPad protection); and 2) lack of a dedicated storage partition for the Apple Pencil (which is easily knocked off if not being used while the case is open.) This latter challenge is also present on the Apple Magic Keyboard, without a flap to hold the pencil in place while traveling. Overall, this product is a great value. It is a highly functional case, with the biggest problem being the Apple Pencil storage while the case is open. If you don't use the Apple Pencil regularly and do want a great keyboard case, this is one you should purchase. Read more

I received the product and despite the build quality matching that of apple, the product received did not in-fact fit the iPad Pro 11 inch, the case provided was clearly that of a different model iPad, Camera hole was bigger and the volume and power button did not match the iPad, iPad couldn't even fit as the iPad Pro 11 was indeed larger than the model provided. I used it for not more than 15 minutes when I decided to return it. Within that short period time the case was complete full of my smudged finger prints, and trust me my hands were clean. Even when I tried to clean it with a microfibre cloth, the prints only partially came away. Very poor choice of material. Read more
