The first thing you notice when you get it is HOW FREAKING HEAVY this thing is. But I could pass on that, it protects the iPad very well compared to the Magic Keyboard, which is why I chose this one. BUT, it’s actually an BAD keyboard — it has backlight, which is pretty nice, but you can’t even set the backlight to normal white! The key travel is pretty long compared to Apple’s and the noise makes its feel clunky. But above all, sometimes it just doesn’t register key presses, although pretty rarely if you take the time to fully press the keys (super annoying though, but I guess you can get used to that). But above all, the trackpad is HORRIBLE: it’s quite laggy and doesn’t always register multi touch properly, or even move at all as you intended, and the click is very noisy (real press, not haptic), making each use of it inconvenient / incomfortable. It’s because it’s connecting over bluetooth I suppose, but the Magic trackpad as well and is perfectly responsive. Finally, I knew the keyboard was bluetooth and had to be turned on/off, but why on earth making it a 3 seconds press for either?! It should be instant press on/off. I would say 4.5. The case around the iPad protects it well, but the keyboard part does break if it falls (freak incident made me drop mine, which happened AFTER what I mention later on in this review). It’s stable and the hinge feels nice imo, and is the iPad is easy to remove from the keyboard part. The Apple Pencil also holds well on it. The only issue I have is that I had to contact support for a replacement 2-3 weeks in because my keyboard suddenly just stopped working entirely. Though now I just received my replacement, and it works perfectly fine. The material it’s made of also does smudge/leave fingerprints easily, but not as much as a midnight MacBook Air if anyone understands that comparison. Read more

This review is for the ESR keyboard case for the 2024 M4 iPad Pro 13. So, let’s start by saying this case is Exactly what I wanted for my new iPad Pro. The M4 iPad is so new, its really hard to find a good aftermarket case, but ESR seems to have read my mind and made one… a really good one albeit. There are a few nitpicks from me, but overall, this is a 5 star case. Why do want this particular case? Because I want the iPad to have a case on at all times. When it is in the keyboard case and when it’s out. ESR has made a keyboard case just for that. The iPad is essentially in a slim black case at all times, so when I remove it from the keyboard case to game or use as an iPad again, I don’t need to worry about it or have another case on standby. ESR accomplished this by making the slim case with a metal backing, so the magnets from the hinged side lock onto the slim case, not the iPad, which makes the magnetic power extremely strong. Once you snap the iPad on, it doesn’t move nor slide around. You can open, close, adjust the hinge angle without fearing your iPad will move around. Oh the slim case will also accommodate the pencil and it even has a strap that will protect the pencil when the case is closed. Overall, the case is very sturdy, well designed and built. The touchpad is excellent and the keyboard has a firm feedback which I like. Oh, the keyboard battery, yes, it has its own battery, so you don’t have to drain your iPad to use it. Yes it needs to charged, but it is also an USB-C and the battery last a long time, for weeks of use. And No it does not have a battery gauge, which at first I thought it might be worrisome, but guess what, the native battery widget on the iPad shows the keyboard battery percentage!!! This is AWESOME, see attached screen shot! Now, let me nitpick a bit… wow is it heavy. I understand with all the metal, magnets and battery, it will be heavy. I think it’s heavier than my old clunker IBM Thinkpad! But it’s something I am ok with and can live with, for all of its features. Oh, due to the weight, the keyboard does not tip over when you are using it on your lap on the couch or in bed. The weight of the battery anchors down so the iPad is not heavier than the keyboard, which is an Issue with the Apple MK, its so light that it tips over easily. The keyboard, BTW I am writing this review with it as we speak. Why does this keyboard DOES NOT HAVE A DELETE KEY??? Instead there is a screen lock key! why? It’s very frustrating that I am so used to using the delete key and every time I hit it, the screen goes blank! I will have to bring up the onscreen keyboard to use the delete key! Ugh!!! This is probably my biggest gripe with this keyboard! My recommendation to ESR would be to put the delete key back and give us one more color on the keyboard lighting, white. It has every color but white. The closest to white is cyan, which is just a lighter shade of blue! Give us pure white please! Other than that, this is an awesome keyboard case at less than 1/3 of Apple MK price! Plus its 360 protection of the iPad and onboard battery feature, it is definitely a 5 star product! Read more

I was pretty shocked how heavy and thick it was. It's thicker than my iPad Pro 11 3rd gen with Magic Keyboard. At any rate this is for the new iPad Pro OLED 13" with has not arrived yet and it sort of defeats the purpose of having a super thin iPad in a sense. That said, any sort of case is going to be an issue in that regard, im a case guy though as I dont like my devices getting scratched up. Furthermore, I can't bring myself to cough up $450 CAD just for the magic keyboard for occasional use of the keyboard, so this ESR one is a good alternative. Despite the fact it's so thick and heavy, the bright side is the quality is very good. Typing feels better and more solid than the magic keyboard. Moreover, since the base is heavier it likely won't tip as easily as the magic keyboard does. Bear in mind this is all comparing to the older style magic keyboard not the 2024 Magic Keyboard that I was too cheap to buy. At any rate ESR makes good quality products and this is no exception. I purchased the folio keyboard for my 13 inch iPad Pro. The size is perfect for the machine, and feels like a properly sized laptop keyboard. My uses are very writing intensive, and the few weeks i have had with this have been a wonder and surprise; i did not think i would be purchasing as quality a keyboard as i had, and am incredibly happy to write on this keyboard even in comparison to USB keyboards i have. THe build is of a very high quality, and the chassis will not slip on whatever surface you keep it on. The battery life is great, i have just kept it plugged in for a fraction of the time i keep the iPad charged, and the battery lasts as long as i realistically need. I have not noticed any egregious lag, in fact the keyboard is quite quick to response even in comparison to other bluetooth keyboards i have used. The Keys all work and have as many commands as you realistically need for an iPad, with many backlighting options to customize. Though there are more protective options out there, there is a quality case that is used to connect to the folio that is itself protective, and the folio provides many angles of protection if the iPad is dropped while closed. Some have complained of their apple pencils falling out; given this, i preemptively ordered a separate pouch for the pencil, however, i have not actually needed to use it; not only is the magnetic connector strong even through the case, but the magnetic strap the encloses the folio also adds tension to keep the pen in place. The product is also easy to use and connect, with a simple pairing being all that is needed before you can turn on the keyboard having already connected the keyboard. Lastly, i am happy with the matte option. I was worried about seeing accumulated grease on my device, and while this does happen, i am happy with the grip that the matte provides my palms while typing. Read more

Well priced, great form factor and the keys don't feel cheap. Best of all, absolutely stellar customer service Keyboard: very nice feel, great range of back lights and no lag when typing. Personally did not miss the function row on the 11 inch, did not find it was too bothersome to hold funtion and another key. Price: great for its form factor and functionality Stand functionality: very sturdy, a bit weighty but helps with stability when open. Protection: weighty but it feels very protective. I would count this as a win especially as these devices are so pricey. Customer service: The best I've come across. Replied within 24 hours EVEN ON A WEEKEND. I did have some trouble with the trackpad, but we found out quickly that it was a faulty model. Best part is that they offered to send a replacement/refund without needing me to send the priduct back. On this alone I will continue to look at ESR products. Read more

This is a fantastic case! It is easy to use and provides great all-around protection for the iPad. All of the corners of the iPad are well-covered and button access is fully enabled. The Bluetooth pairing is seamless and the trackpad works well. The placement of the iPad in either horizontal or vertical use is effective and easy with a magnetic attachment to the case. The stand is at a fixed angle but the angle works well. The only downsides of this case are: 1) its weight (slightly heavier and thicker than the Apple Magic Keyboard, but 1/3 the price — and the ESR case provides much better iPad protection); and 2) lack of a dedicated storage partition for the Apple Pencil (which is easily knocked off if not being used while the case is open.) This latter challenge is also present on the Apple Magic Keyboard, without a flap to hold the pencil in place while traveling. Overall, this product is a great value. It is a highly functional case, with the biggest problem being the Apple Pencil storage while the case is open. If you don't use the Apple Pencil regularly and do want a great keyboard case, this is one you should purchase. Read more

I received the product and despite the build quality matching that of apple, the product received did not in-fact fit the iPad Pro 11 inch, the case provided was clearly that of a different model iPad, Camera hole was bigger and the volume and power button did not match the iPad, iPad couldn't even fit as the iPad Pro 11 was indeed larger than the model provided. I used it for not more than 15 minutes when I decided to return it. Within that short period time the case was complete full of my smudged finger prints, and trust me my hands were clean. Even when I tried to clean it with a microfibre cloth, the prints only partially came away. Very poor choice of material. Read more
