So, I see that I am apparently using this product for its intended, but much less popular, purpose, hehe. I'm not a physician, but I am a patient who needs physical therapy 3 times a week for neuropathy. I also have a history of trauma that makes it extremely difficult for me to identify sensations and everything to do with them- when I have less than I should, when sensation has increased in an area, whether something hurts, tickles, or burns, you get the picture. So my poor, poor physical therapists and doctor work so patiently with me as they try to get information out of me about what I'm feeling, and believe me when I say it's a struggle for all involved. WELL, NOT ANYMORE (AND YES I'M EXCITED ABOUT IT)! Man, I took this thing out of its little cellophane baggy, slipped it onto my finger, ran the wheels down my leg, and in an INSTANT, as if by magic, I suddenly knew where sensation was strongest, where it was virtually nonexistent, where it began to taper off- I am going to bring this thing into PT with me for my next appointment and positively SCREAM at all of them to ask me anything! Relieved mania aside though, and in all seriousness, this little tool really has given me such an invaluable sense of empowerment, just by allowing me to understand what I'm physically feeling, and I'm so indescribably grateful. I wish my physical therapists or doctor had known about this. Maybe my bringing it to their attention will save others some trouble down the line. My only complaint is that the rings that hold it to your finger are made of a pretty flimsy plastic, reminiscent of a ring you might get from a quarter machine. I'll be recommending a metal one. I thought this looked like an interesting item to add to my toy bag to try out in the bedroom so I bought one. It is difficult to tell from the pictures displayed in connection with the item, BUT once I had the item in my hands, it was really easy to see and tell that it is NOT made of metal. It's made of some kind of cheap plastic and will very likely break easily if you aren't careful with it. If you don't mind replacing it at some time in the future, then it might be the item for you but if you are like me and don't like buying cheap toys that you have to replace then I would advise you to keep your money and spend it on something that will last and that you won't have to replace!
