I recently got my hands on this keyboard and let me tell you, I am IMPRESSED. Initially, I hesitated buying this keyboard because of the reviews. If you are hesitating like I did, you won’t regret it. I rarely write reviews, however, this deserves another 5-star review from me. First thing that caught my eye was the hot swappable feature. As you can see, I have replaced the caps on the keyboard and it was pretty easy to install for someone who has never done it. The keyboard comes with a key switch puller/cap remover which was something I was worried it wouldn’t come with. I switched the switches to the Epomaker budgerigar switches. I had no problem with the flamingo switches at all, as they sound similar to the budgerigar switches in my opinion, except the budgerigar is a little deeper in sound. Anyways, I digress. The customization process was smooth and hassle-free. The typing experience is excellent. The keyboard itself can be adjusted to be slightly elevated for better comfort while typing. This includes for long periods of time. The gif screen is what drove me to buy this keyboard. The screen adds a touch of personality to the keyboard and allows you to display some nice gifs. Although, I had a little trouble figuring out how to customize the screen but I eventually figured out it out. There are two modes you can use it in: wired and wireless. Nice quality keyboard. With the 50% off Black Friday sale, I couldn't pass it up for my Raspberry Pi5, Its heavy, feels very durable, Looks sharp, Now lets get to the key sounds, I've had blue and red switch mechanical keyboards in the past, Those type of switches do sound like a traditional mechanical keyboard. These Pre-Lubed Flamingo switches sound verrrrrrrrrry nice, They sound like what you want a modified keyboard to sound like, If you always dreamed of a modified keyboard watching all those how to videos on YouTube. This is the one for you, its already done. Would i buy it at full retail??? Myself I wouldn't, its lacking some keys I normally use and I could buy another cheaper keyboard and just upgrade the switches, But at the price I paid for it on sale, well I couldn't do it that cheap. So this made a lot of sense. The only thing I don't like about it is, well you just don't type like a normal keyboard, You have to press a button first to take it out of sleep mode, then you type, Like say if I walked up to the keyboard and it was in sleep mode and I typed "EPOMAKER" well on the screen you would see "POMAKER" The "E" wouldn't be their because the "E" is the key used to take the keyboard out of sleep. I'm pretty sure maybe in the future they might have a update that fixes this issue, because it is a learning curve if you still look at the keyboard when typing and not on the screen, Like I do!!!" Other than that I'm really impressed and can't wait until next Boxing day a year down the road and see if they have anymore great deals!!. I would say this has a real quality feel to it!!!. This keyboard is, without a doubt, a perfect choice for anybody starting or picking up a new 'board for their setup! I didn't browse enough EPOMAKER brand keyboards before this one because the Shadow-X alone stuck out in the listings like seeing that classroom crush at school every time, except I didn't make a move until I saw the sale listing go down to little less than $40. Jokes aside, this model was always on my mind, even after owning at least 5 different 'boards at this point, but now I wish I went with this one before the picking up the others. It's thocky, clean, and comes with nice utilities to compliment all your desktop leisure and enjoyment. Gaming much? The Flamingo switches (selected in the drop-down menu) are smooth, light, and responsive for both casual and competitive gaming. Typing and internet browsing? Not only is it sporting itself off like a fine luxury vehicle in the form of a keyboard, the LED display and wireless nob, that provides a connection between 3 different devices via Bluetooth AND the 2.4 wireless dongle, adds power to play in all private activities while browsing the web. The display screen shows battery life, time of day, weather, and whether you are connected via Bluetooth, Dongle, or Wired. Also, console friendly for game chat, swapping to keyboard (if the game allows alternating controllers like Fortnite), and quick browsing the game store online or various apps. It's very useful without any hassle! It comes with features I didn't think I needed or wanted in the first place, but it's definitely a highlight. Overall quality is impressive. Some may complain about the plastic body, but it's not a real issue in this case since the switches, gasket, and foam create a pleasing poppy-like thock noise to your typing. In the end, I highly recommend this keyboard; it's constantly on sale throughout the year, you don't need much customizing or spending compared to top brand models, and it already makes desktop life easier.
