I was looking for a soft shell jacket that would be my fall and spring jacket when walking to my truck from my office, occasional hike and dog walk in the neighborhood. I looked at the NorthFace line initially and I could not justify spending $180+ on a similar version. Not because I can't afford it but because a walk across a lot parking lot or dog walk does not warrant that expenditure. I bought this in black, size large and it fits perfect. To give you an idea on sizing: I am 5'9" and athletic and in the gym 4-5days a week. I have a 34 waist 30L pant size, wear a size 46R sports jacket, wear a 17.5 32/33 dress shirt size and weigh 200lbs. This jacket fits me comfortably in the shoulders and chest and tapers enough in the waist to flatter me. I still have enough room in there to put on a light sweater. I wore it this past weekend on a six mile mountain hike with my daughters swim team at 8am and wore a short sleeve workout shirt underneath with a light pair of sweat pants and I was comfortable and warm with a starting temp of 37F. We finished the walk in about two hours and the temp at that time was about 42F. Obviously, while walking my body temp increased and the jacket was able to regulate and breath very well. I did not adjust the front zipper at all and kept it three quarters closed the whole time and was perfect.
