Original Review: I have had this hair dryer for about six months and it has started to make a high pitched noise and shuts off. This is extremely disappointing for such a hyped up dryer. I have my old 7 year old dryer I will have to go back to. I have never dropped this dryer and keep it on a stand in my bathroom. I will see if the manufacturer can help. Edit: Well, whatever mechanical issues the hair dryer had are now gone! I don’t know if something had jostled lose inside or if it was just a bad bearing, but one day it just started working again without notice. No complaints here! It’s a very nice hairdryer, and I like the different hair attachments. They snap on magnetically and are designed for different hair types. I use the curly hair attachment and my daughter uses the straightener attachment to help straighten her curly hair. Read more

I am like many others, I see the price and go "Good god, that much for a dryer? No way the price is worth it." I am so sad to report it is, in fact, worth the price. - You can notice the difference immediately upon first use. My hair is dense, thick, wavy hair. Most hair dryers I have tried over the years, take at least 10-20 minutes when drying right out the shower. I also tend to start sweating, as I have to take a longer time thus heating up my scalp. - The dyson dried my hair out the shower in 5 MINUTES. Yes 5 MINUTES. I was stunned. The heat settings are well programmed, as the medium and low settings do not overheat the scalp over a period of time. The cold button was fast and responsive. - I was skeptical of its design, with the open blower, but it works perfect. In fact, I like the longer handle, as I can more easily get to the back of my head. The weight is perfect, just heavy enough and just light enough to not strain the hand. - The attachments are also excellent. The fast drying attachment does exactly as it says, so does the fly away attachment. Now I have just one con: - It does not come with a travel bag. For being expensive as it is, its silly it does not come with a travel bag. Despite my initial scoffing at the price, I can confidently say this is absolutely worth the price. I will warn, the supersonic is similar to a basic hair dryer. If you want to do curling, straightening, etc, you need to get the other dyson hair dryer. For me, the basics is all I need, but if I decide to style my hair more, I would definitely consider getting the other dyson dryer. Read more

It dries and straightens my hair with ease, it is light-weight to hold, it is more quiet and easier to maintain than previous dryers, and it does not run as hot and damaging to the hair! I used my daughter-in-law's Dyson hair dryer while visiting out of state. I loved it! It dried my hair quickly and left it without the usual frizziness caused when using my other professional hair dryer. My hair is smoother and has more shine to it after using it.
