This bug zapper does what it is stated in the description. It's definitely kills em dead. as you can see. The one drawback is the bulb did not last as long as it said in the details. I purchased this bug zapper on June 20th of 2025 and installed it immediately after receiving it but the bulb working by September 7th causing me to purchase a replacement bulb. I am changing my rating from 3 stars to five stars. The merchant reached out to me in reference to my disclosure with the life cycle of the bulb. They did offer a comparable and I am very pleased their response time and their dialogue with me. I was out of my home for almost six weeks. While I was gone, my refrigerator died. All food was ruined. I now have a plague of fruit flies. Bought this to replace the one we had that died. Love that the power cord isn't short. Most bug zappers have a short cord. This one is longer and works great. First {zap} was telling. Super satisfying zap sound. Sometimes a little startling but worth not being stung by mosquitoes. We get mosquitos through the gap in the screen in our apartment. I’ve tried putting up tape to cover the gap but they always find a way in. I hear this thing zapping them all hours of the day. The light doesn’t hurt your eyes and there’s a safety cage. We hung it on the wall with some zip ties and a 3m hook rated for something like 15 pounds. Don’t want to chance this thing falling and my son getting to it or it catching fire to a toy or a jacket or something wild. Would be nice if it had mount holes, similar to the smoke detector in the attached photo. On that note you could probably drill some yourself if need be but it’s would be a nice addition. This thing is the bomb, definitely buy it. Don’t buy glue traps. They don’t work for mosquitoes. This thing works amazing for flies. They wait at the door and come in, they go straight to the light within 5 minutes, day or night. The flies make the most noise! Super satisfying and safe product. Definitely recommend. Worth the money The second photo shows about 2 months worth of mosquitoes. Surprised there’s not more being we hear this thing all hours of day. Guessing they just get incinerated. It works, almost too good. I live near a pond and have started enjoying the backyard a lot more because of it. I’ve lost count on the number of bugs it’s zapped. I put it about 20 feet away from where we sit outside and it drew the bugs away from us and into the light. I found that it really starts to work when it gets dark. This definitely works and killed many bugs during our camping trip and later while hanging out on our deck. Yes, the zaps are quite audible (as some have oddly complained about), but what do you expect when electricity goes coursing through their little bodies? I like the zap, lets me know it’s working. Every now and then a larger bug (moth or cicada-killer, etc.) will get held to the wire and gets zapped for an extended time, but that didn’t bother us.
