As a further development of the successful LP-8, the IN-8 2nd Wave features its sophisticated bass reflex system and the same level-proof woofer. Instead of the usual tweeter with 3D imaging waveguides, however, a coaxial midrange-tweeter combination has been installed here. The profile-optimised 4″ midrange driver also functions as a waveguide. By limiting the peak excursion to 1 mm, it was possible to avoid intermodulation distortions that otherwise occur with coaxial systems. The midrange driver also relieves the woofer and tweeter, so the IN-8 2nd Wave plays more harmonically and distortion-free than conventional 2-way studio monitors. The crossover frequency of the woofer is 280 Hz, making the IN-8 2nd Wave an acoustic point source. You won't find phase cancellations on the vertical axis. Instead, the IN-8 2nd Wave has an even dispersion over the entire frequency response with excellent depth and localisation. The stereo image also benefits from the coaxial arrangement and enables a mix that is rich in detail.
