My daughter asked for some of these kits for Christmas. She is 11 and while I thought she would like them, they required a bit too much dexterity and failure than she had the patience for. So I took them and I LOVE THEM!! I have zero experience with crocheting, knitting, or anything in that realm. But I was determined to learn. You do have to have patience, so I think these kits are probably better suited for teens and adults. The videos are fantastic and well paced, but I still screwed up quite a few times and had to go back to the beginning. However, I persevered and completed my first kit and now my second kit is much easier. These kits are not cheap, but that's because you are paying for the instruction that comes with them. And the instruction is excellent for beginners. One tip: You really need to be at an iPad or computer (large screen) in order to view the videos.
