It dissolves easily, can't detect it in a smoothie. Except: it makes smoothies SUPER creamy, which is fantastic--to a point. It almost makes it too thick, but I guess I could just put less than a scoop in. What I also love about it is that it doesn't have all the awful additives most protein powders have. The ingredients list is super short, and completely natural. It does have the slightest aftertaste, though I'm very sensitive to those kinds of things. I can deal with it. Only downside is that I think it causes me to have a little bit of indigestion sometimes. Not 100% sure it's the powder though. Tasty! I'm so impressed that it doesn't make my smoothies taste like chalky protein powder. It has a very subtle vanilla flavor. It's not sweet, which I'm glad for as I like to control the level of sweetness myself, just very well-balanced. I've tried a handful of different protein powders over the years, mostly plant based ones (brown rice and pea). I find I am pretty sensitive to the proteiny smell and taste and usually after using a particular brand a couple times I give up on protein powders altogether because I just can't stand the weird underlying taste. And I really do everything in my power to mask the taste with a variety of ingredients. Even collagen peptide powders that claim to have a neutral flavor make me want to gag. This one is a pleasure to drink! I get a whiff of that protein smell when I open the container but I can't detect the taste after mixing it with almond milk. It's super tasty with a tablespoon or two of pb2 as well. I can't really speak to the "effects" but I notice it is quite filling. This is important because 1) you may not have product yet so you CANNOT check the actual label, and 2) because the actual label of the product NOW in my possession after shipment, says quite clearly: "Contains milk, soybeans." Product description, the way I read it here before I ordered it and the way it reads still, today, states: "Contains: Milk Free of egg, fish, crustacean shellfish, tree nuts, peanuts, wheat and soybeans. Also free of corn, yeast, gluten, barley, rice, and sugar." Since one of the ingredients listed on the ACTUAL product label is lecithin, that probably is from soybean oil. I'll still use the stuff since I'm not allergic to soybeans and consume little soybean product/byproduct anyway, but I am disappointed that this product description was not yet updated by Bluebonnet. This Bluebonnet company reminds me of all the garden hoses I've bought that say on the packaging something like, "Does not kink." The 4 stars is for the lack of transparency. (Yes, I'm tired of that term also. But it seemed appropriate here.) BTW, the flavor is just fine. No weird under taste. I don't like to give anything a bad review. This protein powder does keep me full, however it just tastes awful. I drink celery juice almost daily and that tastes fine to me, I am not super picky with taste, if I know it's good for me. I can be a trooper and drink/eat anything. However, I have tried several recipes with this protein powder and it's just not good. I am cheap so I will be trying to finish this huge bottle before I purchase something else. Wondering if the flavored one would work better. I should add my nutritionist recommended this brand for the cleanest brand to buy as I have (3) autoimmune diseases and lots of dietary restrictions.
